| Proclaiming January 28, 2023, as E. Thelma Waters Day in the Village of Indiantown
| SUMMARY OF ITEM:
| E. Thelma Waters moved into Indiantown in 1941 and was a signatory of the 2017 Articles of Incorporation for the Village of Indiantown. She was a tireless advocate for women, children, migrant laborers and her hometown of Indiantown and has a decades-long record of caring and advocation for others in the Indiantown community. She was also a leading force for civil rights, suitable migrant worker housing, medical care, early childhood education, quality daycare, access to a voting precinct, political representation and has served on Indiantown Non-Profit Housing Board of Directors, Hope Rural School Board of Directors, Indiantown’s Neighborhood Advisory Council, Martin County Board of County Commissioners Indiantown Task Force and numerous other Committees, Boards, Task Forces and organizations active in the Indiantown community. Ms. Waters was inducted into the Florida Women’s Hall of Fame on January 28, 2021, and on January 14, 2021, the Village Council adopted Resolution No. 002-2021, designating into perpetuity January 28th as E. Thelma Waters Day in the Village of Indiantown.
